Reading Middle Grade is now offering virtual author visits to classrooms, libraries, and homeschools in the US & Canada! Connect with popular middle grade authors through monthly visits for $100/month!
How Our Virtual Author Visits Work
During our virtual visits, your classroom will connect to a live discussion with the month’s visiting author. Other classrooms, homeschoolers, and libraries will also be on the Zoom call.
- Invited authors will give a 15-20-minute presentation and then answer student (& educator) questions for 20-30 minutes. Question-dump Google Forms, where everyone can submit questions, will be open at least one month before each visit, so your students can leave questions for the author.
- Afoma Umesi of Reading Middle Grade will moderate the event.
- 🥳 Each attending school will receive a copy of the author’s newest book and a FREE discussion guide for the author’s latest release.
How to Register for a Virtual Author Visit
There are two ways to sign up for a virtual author visit:
- The first way is through our Patreon 📚BOOK CLUBBER tier. Members of this tier get access to the virtual author visit, the book, and the discussion guide, in addition to the usual perks of being a Patreon member (detailed in this post). The way I see it, if you’re paying the same amount, you might as well get the same benefits! Patreon is a membership subscription, but you can cancel at any time — there’s no minimum subscription period. The 📚BOOK CLUBBER tier opens on August 20, 2024.
- The other option is to buy event tickets on our website. Once you sign up, we’ll be in touch with a Visit Agreement and you can sit back and get your kids excited about the visit.
Virtual Author Visit with Debbi Michiko Florence
Join Reading Middle Grade for a virtual school visit with author Debbi Michiko Florence on April 23, 2025, at 12 PM EST. Debbi is the author of Keep It Together, Keiko Carter and the forthcoming A Study in Secrets.
Debbi will give a 15-20-minute presentation, after which a 15-20-minute Q&A will follow, moderated by Afoma Umesi of Reading Middle Grade. All attending classrooms, homeschools, and libraries will have the chance to send in questions ahead of time.
⏺️ This event will be recorded, and attending schools will have access to stream the broadcast for 30 days after.
