REFUGEE Novel Unit

Available to pre-order and will be released on June 30, 2025. Our Refugee novel unit was created in line with Common Core standards by Afoma Umesi, founder of Reading Middle Grade, and Evelyn Khoo-Schwartz, a fifth-grade teacher-librarian in the US. We recommend this resource for grades 6-8.

This novel unit includes:

• A 3-week lesson plan (we share what you should teach every day in 45-minute blocks) with slides teaching historical fiction, point-of-view, literary devices, symbolism, a variety of themes from the book, and so much more!
