The best middle grade graphic novel series work to keep readers engaged -- like any other tween series -- because they're already oriented. They know the characters and the world in the particular series, so it's easier to keep going. So while I already have a list of middle grade graphic novels, I thought it would be fun to keep all of the series in one post! Many parents struggle to maintain the love their kids had for reading in middle school. I've found that, like with younger kids, finding good book series for teens is a great trick for keeping them reading. When I was a teen, I LOVED The Hunger Games and Divergent series and thought about them for years after reading -- especially with the movies coming out. I also read the To All the Boys series in young adulthood and loved it, too. I've included these favorites on this list and also added some newer favorites that I (and many teens I know) have enjoyed and separated them into genre categories for easier browsing.

Captivating Book Series for 4th Graders

I love recommending books for 3rd graders because this is the prime age for new readers. By the 3rd grade, most kids are confident readers and very into book series. On this list of book series for 3rd graders, I've included some of my favorites, which means mostly realistic fiction with lovable protagonists you can root for. Although all the books on this list are fully illustrated, some would also work for more advanced readers and a few for those who aren't as confident yet.

There are two kinds of problems parents and teachers often have with kids being readers: they're either not reading enough or at all OR they're burning through books too fast to find options. Book series help with both of these issues. With reluctant readers, book series keep them in a familiar universe, making it easier to get into each next story, while with voracious readers, finding a series with at least five installments is a surefire way to keep them booked and busy for some time. Regardless of what camp you fall into, I'm sharing 20 excellent book series for 5th graders to enjoy. Book series for 2nd graders are important because kids at this age are new to chapter books and there's no better way to keep them hooked than to hand them multi-book series. Every 2nd grader is different. Some are precocious and can read young middle grade books, while others may only be getting a grasp of reading independently. Whether your child is on either extreme or smack in the middle, there's a book for them on this list. I've also rounded up picks from many genres including fantasy, sci-fi, mystery, adventure, and animal fiction, so you can have a wide range to choose from. All the books on this list are well under 150 pages long.
